House Party Blues

In September 1989 I began hosting House Party Blues on Sunday nights, playing the music of Blues artists from the 1930s to present day. Along with hosting the radio show, I was often asked to emcee Blues concerts at local venues, introducing the bands as they took the stage. The above photo is one such event with Little Charlie & The Nightcats.
This also provided the opportunity to interview Blues legends who were still performing at the time such as James Cotton, Albert King, Pinetop Perkins, Sunnyland Slim, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, and many others. Hearing their stories first hand was a true privilege. I shared those interviews on my show. And highlighted the immense significance of their music by creating a weekly feature called "The Blues Had A Baby and They Named It Rock n Roll." Playing a Blues original followed by a Rock n Roll cover version of the same song. A feature I still do!
Then in February 1990 I learned that the Classic Rock station in Atlantic City had a job opening. So I reached out to them and was hired as a Rock n Roll Disc Jockey ...
