Radio Journey
Growing up with a turntable, records, and a radio nearby, music has always been my frequent companion. So when I was asked If I'd be interested in hosting a radio show, the answer was yes. Little did I know it would set in motion a series of events culminating in becoming a College Professor of Broadcasting and a Radio Station Director.

But it all began as a Disc Jockey hosting three shows on Stockton College's radio station. First, a New Age music show called Alpha Waves. Then Happy Trails, a psychedelic music show with a large community of listeners. And House Party Blues where I played Blues artists from the 1930s to the present day, and highlighted their influence on Rock n Roll.

The opportunities continued as I crossed over into commercial radio. Starting as a weekend Disc Jockey on Atlantic City's Classic Rock Station. And then as a full-time Disc Jockey on an Oldies station. Followed by a return to the Classic Rock station when my former boss invited me back to the Rock airwaves which included a promotion to Music Director.

In time I applied for a job at the legendary freeform station, WXPN in Philadelphia, where I became a Disc Jockey and Promotions Assistant. During which time I also attended Rowan University where as a master's degree student I was in charge of their radio station's training program. Then upon graduating, I was hired by Rowan University to teach radio broadcasting as part of their Radio-Television-Film major. Eventually leaving to become Radio Station Director at Burlington County College.

Through it all I was on the airwaves somewhere playing music. Often hosting shows on a couple of stations at the same time. I became known as a Disc Jockey rooted in Blues-based Rock while playing a variety of musical styles and deep tracks.

But I wasn't the only one creating the show's content. The listeners were always part of the creative process. Calling in with inventive ideas for songs or artists, and making radio a rewarding collaboration. So if you have ideas, feel free to drop me an email at radiobonnie@yahoo.com
