The Hart of Rock n Roll
WBZC Z88.9-FM
Pemberton, NJ
In 2007 after graduating from Naropa University, I returned to Z88.9 at Burlington County College. This time as a community volunteer hosting a radio show on Saturday mornings. On weekends the offices of Z88.9 were dark and silent. The only activity was in the main studio where the on-air DJ before me was packing up and preparing to leave. After which I was alone in a radio station where I'd once been the director, shouldering endless responsibilities amid lots of activity. But now it was just me in the studio; no hustle and bustle; no demands on my time ... and it was fantastic!

One of the best parts about being a radio disc jockey is the quality of the sound system in a professional studio; delivering music with all of its nuances. As for the Z88.9 sound system, it had been updated with the grant money I'd received. I personally researched, decided upon, and purchased the equipment. Including a sound board and speakers that were exceptional. So hosting a show in that studio was pretty cool for me.

But the best part was reconnecting with the listeners. I had purposely put "Hart" in the title of my show. I thought it would help listeners find me. And they did! Calling with requests or just to say hi. Many going as far back as Happy Trails. And they contributed greatly to the show's content. Especially with ideas for Grateful Dead songs that always started the show.

But eventually I needed to free up Saturday mornings for my counseling practice. So I left radio for a bit, returning in 2025 as host of Bonnie Hart's Rock n Roll Soul. Airing on Radio That Doesn't Suck. Which is where you can find me now ...
